French defense manufacturer Thales has introduced a new weapon sight, which reportedly expands the soldier's field of vision and can better identify opponents.

The cutting-edge technology called XTRAIM can operate day and night, and has a "camouflage" function that could only be achieved through a variety of military technologies.

Masquerading is a term used to describe the image scaling attack detection framework, which consists of three independent detection methods: rescaling, filtering, and steganalysis.

According to Thales, the XTRAIM sight provides soldiers with high-precision night shooting capabilities and is compatible with all shoulder-mounted assault rifles and light machine guns.

The company claims that due to the design and functions that meet the operational requirements, the new technology provides soldiers with key advantages in combat missions.

The XTRAIM weapon sight weighs less than 530 grams (1.1 lbs), which reduces the equipment burden on soldiers and improves their agility, endurance and enemy recognition capabilities.

The ergonomic design of the new device allows users to open their eyes to take pictures, so as to fully understand the surrounding environment while engaging the target.

The technology also combines the reflective red dot sight with thermal imaging technology, which can pick out targets from the background during daytime operation.

XTRAIM is compatible with all types of night vision goggles, suitable for night work. After configuration, the infrared image from the weapon sight will be placed on the image from the light intensifier tube of the goggles to enhance its target recognition ability under low light conditions.

"The outstanding optical, electronic and mechanical expertise of the Saint-Héand team... enables us to design and develop solutions with our customers to provide our customers with the best operational capabilities available today," Thales official Christophe Salomon Said in the press release. "XTRAIM is simply a revolution in the armed forces."
