Thirty-One Morgan County 4-H shooters gathered for their County Fair .4-H 22 rifle shoot on July 16, at the Muir Springs. Individual champions and place finishers were determined in all .22 rifle shooting classes, and the .22 pistol discipline. The shoot also determined who the county representatives would be at the Colorado 4-H State Shooting Sports Championships in August.

Shooters were grouped as juniors (ages 8-13) and seniors (ages 14-18). A total of four different shooting classes were available at both the junior and senior levels. The top six shooters in each class will comprise the Morgan County team in that class at the 4-H State Shoot. Should a shooter elect to not participate in the state event, the next highest scoring shooter will be asked to join the team in that discipline.

Top finishers in junior 3 Position were: 1) Saxson Keller, 2) Ben Werner, 3) Kaine Eicher, 4) Arisa Eicher, and 5) Bentley Larrick. Senior 3 Position finishers were; 1) Danielle Moon, 2) Ethan Bohl, 3) Talan Hall, 4) Madison Thomas, 5) Sateen Keller, and 6) Soul Keller. Also competing in 3 Position for the seniors was Jasmine Brindisi, Chad Schilling, and Kayla Garcia.

Junior 4 Position Sporter winners were: 1) Saxson Keller, 2) Ben Werner, 3) Arisa Eicher, 4) Shylynn Larrrick, 5) Kaine Eicher and 6) Bentley Larrick. Senior 4 Position Sporter finishers were; 1) Ethan Bohl, 2) Danielle Moon, 3) Talan Hall, 4) Madison Thomas, 5) Sateen Keller, and 6) Chad Schilling. Also competing in Senior 4 Position Sporter was Jasmine Brindisi, Kayla Garcia, and Soul Keller.

Hunt Class junior champions were: 1) Ben Werner, 2) Zacheriah Bos, 3) Rylee Stevens, 4) Saxson Keller, 5) Shylynn Larrick, and 6) Wyatt Gorrell. Other participants in the Hunt Class were Lilyana Bridges, Nathaniel Bridges, Caden Cozad, Arisa Eicher, Kaine Eicher, Evan Ewertz, Tyson Fox, Bentley Larrick, Aiden Midcap, Raylan Neal, Eli Williams. Hunt class senior champions were; 1) Danielle Moon, 2) Madison Thomas, 3) Ethan Bohl, 4) Talan Hall, 5) Madison Thomas and 6) Soul Keller. Also competing in the senior hunt class was Jasmine Brindisi, Kayla Garcia, Sateen Keller, and Chad Schilling.

Scope Rifle junior winners were: 1) Ben Werner, 2) Saxson Keller, 3) Rylee Stevens, 4) Kaine Eicher, 5) Eden Montes, and 6) Cade Ramirez. Aeris Anderson, Caden Cozad, Arisa Eicher, Tyson Fox, Wyatt Gorrell, Bentley Larrick, Abby Ramirez, and Eli Williams also participated. Senior Scope Rifle Champions were: 1) Danielle Moon, 2) Madison Thomas, 3) Talan Hall, 4) Sateen Keller, 5) Ethan Bohl, 6) Kayla Garcia. Also participating was Jasmine Brindisi, Shawn Hollis, Soul Keller, Chad Schilling.

4-H .22 Rifle coaches are David Bohl, Derek Bos, DJ Eicher, Justin Lowe, and Kortney Venzke. These coaches are volunteers through Morgan County 4-H, and dedicate many hours to teaching the youth that are involved in Morgan County 4-H Shooting Sports.

.22 Pistol was also held on July 16 with 11 shooters participating. In the Junior Division the top finishers were 1) Kaine Eicher, 2) Ben Werner, 3) Shylynn Larrick, 4) Cade Ramirez 5) Eli Williams, and 6) Arisa Eicher. Also competing for the juniors was Brooklyn Eggleston. Senior member placings include 1) Chad Schilling, 2) Talan Hall, 3) Rylan Schreiner, and Shawn Hollis.

Youth received their awards at the Shooting Sports Banquet on Tuesday, July 19 at the Mark Arndt Event Center at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. Equipment and supplies for the 4-H shooting sports program have been provided through a NRA grant given in 2022 as well as fundraising, and through donations.
