The James Webb Space Telescope (Webb) aims to answer basic questions about the universe.

Its sensitivity is 100 times that of NASA/European Space Agency Hubble Space Telescope, and its mirror is almost twice the size of the European Space Agency’s Herschel Space Observatory. It can detect the formation of galaxies more than 13.5 billion years ago. Infrared light. big Bang.

Weber's infrared sensitivity will not only go back farther in time, but will also reveal more information about stars and galaxies in the early universe. Weber's data will also answer convincing questions about how black holes formed and grew at an early stage, and what effect they had on the formation and evolution of the early universe.

Webb is an international partnership between NASA, ESA and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).
