Annoyed by the much-anticipated democracy summit held by the Biden administration from December 9 to 10, Chinese President Xi Jinping claimed that there is true democracy in China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CCP).
Yang Jianli wrote in the "National Review" that the competition between China and the United States is very fierce. The competition is between the world's most powerful democratic country and the world's most powerful autocratic country.
In response to the Democracy Summit, Beijing released a white paper entitled "China: Democracy Works".
While promoting the white paper and China's "whole-process people's democracy" model (a concept recently touted by Chinese dictator Xi Jinping), Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng stated that "China is a well-deserved democracy."
The CCP pointed out in its white paper that democracy is the right of the people of all countries, not the exclusive domain of a few countries.

According to the National Review, the white paper criticized the United States for "monopolizing" the definition of democracy and imposing American-style democracy on other countries.
The white paper asserts that true democracy—so-called full-course democracy—exists in China under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party. Jianli said that the document describes the whole process of democracy as "perfect" and claims that it is a thousand times better than electoral democracy in the United States and other Western countries.
The white paper pointed out that the people's democratic dictatorship is the core and essence of China's whole-course democracy. But this is just a political lie, Jianli added.
The CCP’s criticism of American and Western democracy on the eve of the Democracy Summit was laser-like for two reasons.
On the one hand, the Chinese government believes that the United States intends to use the democratic summit to establish an anti-communist "democratic coalition."
On the other hand, the CCP realized that to get rid of the "demonization" of the CCP by the United States and its passive position in democratic discourse, China must eulogize democratic values and regard them as its own values. National review.
