Using a sight in Escape From Tarkov that is unreliable, or doesn't suit the playstyle of your weapon can easily trip you up, so you're going to want to take steps to avoid that, even if it is a bit more expensive. So, to find out what the Escape From Tarkov best sights are, make sure to carry on reading.
The sights in Escape From Tarkov are separated into five categories, and that is how we're going to split this list up too. While some categories are generally better than others, they are very much suited to contrasting situations, making it rather tricky to directly compare them.

Assault scopes in Escape From Tarkov are generally grouped by their ability to provide some magnification, but not to the point of being used for long-range fights. They are very popular to use due to this dual function, as most Tarkov fights happen in the 20-50m range, so being able to be a bit more precise can go a long way.
The first entry into this Escape From Tarkov best scopes list is the Valday, which has remained a very popular choice for years now. It sports both 1x and 6x magnification, which is slightly longer than most other assault scopes, and gives you nice flexibility. Furthermore, the optic itself is very clean, being comprised of a thin cross to allow you to neatly line up your shots.
While at a fixed magnification, the HAMR scope is a great option if you're expecting to fight at mid-range, especially with a semi-automatic weapon like some of the ones that appear on our Escape From Tarkov best guns list. It does have a bit of a busy reticle, but still provides a clear picture. Additionally, it has the option to mount a reflex sight on top to use in close-quarters scenarios, which might appear later in this list too.
While it has fallen slightly out of favour in recent times, the ELCAN is still a reliable scope to go for. Like the Valday it has a dual magnification option at 1x and 4x, but it also has integrated iron sights if you want an even simpler picture. It does suffer from fairly significant camera recoil and loss of sight picture though, so don't rely on it too much for moving shots or mag-dumping.
Collimators are your standard reflex sights in Tarkov that are going to stick to 1x magnification and be best suited for close to mid-range combat. Generally, they trend on the cheaper side compared to their bigger siblings, but they can still be rather pricey if you want the best.
Easily the best of the collimators, the two EOTech XPS3 models are just excellent for faster play styles and CQB. While the sight surround is arguably visually intrusive, it doesn't really make a difference at the ranges in which you'll be using it. The only difference between the XPS3-0 and XPS3-2 models is that the 2 has an additional dot which can help slightly for calculating bullet drop, but the 0 model can be purchased slightly cheaper at the Escape From Tarkov Traders.
This selection is a bit of a strange one, because the quality of the sight varies dramatically depending on the mount variation. The dovetail variant is one of the best close range options due to its clean sight picture and minimal reticle, whereas the standard picatinny mounted version is horrible to use with an overbearing reticule that makes any precision near impossible. Of course, the caveat of this distinct gap in quality is that only certain weapons have the option for a dovetail mount, so you won't always be able to use this. However, when you can and when it suits, it is definitely a sight to think about going for.
Operating in a very similar fashion to the standard collimators, the compact category is, as the name suggests, just a bit smaller. They are a bit less suited to mid-range fights, but due to their small on-screen presence will be less affected by camera recoil.
The standout in this category, and arguably the best overall 1x magnification sight is the DeltaPoint reflex, which of course was mentioned earlier alongside the HAMR. In general, it is just an incredibly easy to use sight that works with pretty much every weapon in the game. The small triangular reticule is small enough to be unobtrusive but still allows you to aim accurately. The only slight downside of this scope is the price, which combined with the mount does seem rather hefty for how small it is.
The cheapest sight in the entire game also happens to be pretty good, so it would be remiss of us to not include it in this list. The PK-06 is perfect if you're just wanting something to slap onto a gun for cheap and do the job. While not as precise as the DeltaPoint, it can still perform above its measly price, to a point where you really can't go wrong. It also has three different reticle options, so you can pick which one suits you best.
While you might initially think that the optics in Tarkov would be reserved for the long-range marksman and bolt-action rifles, they are often a more popular choice for the super-meta low recoil assault rifles. The high initial magnification scopes like the KMZ 1P59 are better suited for snipers, but you will still be able to do the job with the ones included in this list.
The TAC30 is a classic in the Tarkov community, as it operates as one of the best price-to-performance scopes in the whole game. Being able to be picked up for just a bit over 30,000₽, the TAC30 is an excellent choice if you're wanting a scope that does it all. With a weapon like the RD-704, you can very easily spray with the 1x without too much visible recoil, and then use the 4x to make some more precise shots. The only downside is the fairly significant loss of sight picture when leaning or moving, which can make quick or active shots rather challenging.
The cream of the crop comes in the form of the Vudu, which most players would agree is the best standard scope in the entire game. It operates roughly the same as the TAC30, only with a 6x option instead of 4x. The biggest benefit over its counterpart is the frankly ridiculous lack of disruption when zoomed in - even at the largest magnification level. There is practically no loss of sight picture when leaning or moving at both 1x and 6x, which makes it an unrivalled option for players wanting the clearest picture possible. Furthermore, it has a less obtrusive reticule compared to the TAC30, favouring players who want to spray due to the circular outline. Finally, the only downside is the price, which at its cheapest is 46,562₽ at Jaeger LL3, but sits at least 70,000₽ on the Escape From Tarkov flea market. Add in the cost of a 30mm mount and you're looking at a hefty investment, but it is definitely worth it.
Operating slightly outside of the overall conversation of the Escape From Tarkov best sights are the special purpose scopes, which have either night vision or thermal capabilities. The trouble here is that the scopes in this category range from bottom of the barrel to insanely overpowered, but this is largely defined by price and availability too. Overall, the night vision scopes should be generally avoided, and it is a much better idea to just opt for NVGs instead, so what's left are the thermal options, in which two stand out above the rest.
The first of the two worthwhile thermal scopes is the REAP-IR, which sports a 2.5x fixed magnification across white hot and black hot thermal modes. It is an incredibly powerful tool for spotting enemies at a distance, and can make raids on maps like Woods a breeze with enemies not knowing what's hit them. The obvious downside of this is the price, which comes in at around 611,000₽, and the availability, which requires you to be at LL4 for either Mechanic or Skier for a barter.
On the other hand, the FLIR is there if you want to fight at slightly longer ranges, as it offers a 9x zoom mode. This is fantastic for securing headshots at distances over 100m, as the REAP-IR can struggle to distinguish body parts at this range. The additional benefit of a red heat signature mode can help you spot enemies even better too, giving them a starker look than the black or white of the REAP-IR.
Like its counterpart, this sight is also part of the Escape From Tarkov flea market banned items list, and will cost you slightly more at roughly 676,000₽. However, you can get your hands on this slightly earlier through a barter at Jaeger LL3, so it is slightly more accessible to lower-level players.
